You could feel the excitement from the floor of Hall H in the San Diego Convention Center at SDCC 2013. Fans and movie enthusiasts waited expectantly for the big reveals that were planned from the infamous HALL H.

Many stood in line for hours, some even camping out overnight, to be the first to step foot on the Hall H floor, to hear from their favorite actors, writers and directors and to be the first to find out what surprises await them on their favorite film franchises and television series. Well this year at SDCC fans got exactly what they were asking for. Big surprises and sneak peeks hit Hall H like never before.

We were thrilled to be a part of the action and have compiled highlights from IMAX favorites and upcoming IMAX movies. Check them out below:

Entertainment Weekly’s The Visionaries

Hall H kicked off with an up-close and personal conversation with uncompromising directors including Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-man) and Alfonso Cuaron (Gravity, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban). These directors have stunned audiences with their amazing storytelling and vivid imagery. This panel featured a wide-ranging discussion from the art of filmmaking to the future of film.

The panel featured the legendary Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld and Abigail Breslin including producer Robert Orci (Star Trek Into Darkness) and director Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine).

Along with a panel discussion in Hall H, Enders Game made an even bigger debut at SDCC with the Enders Game – Fan Experience which allowed you to walk through actual sets that were used in the movie. Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures BIG announcements

Longtime IMAX partners Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures came to Comic-Con with exciting news and fun sneak peeks that fans were eager to see. #WBSDCC took over Hall H and here are a few highlights that we are still thrilled about.

WB saved some of its best news for last but we’re going to dive right into the best news first. As the WB/Legendary panel came to a close, Zack Snyder arrived with a HUGE announcement. After thanking fans for their support of Man of Steel, Zack casually says, “It’s official. We’re making another Superman movie.” The crowd erupted…but wait, it gets better.

After inviting Harry Lennix, who played General Swanwick in this summer’s Man of Steel, to the stage for a heartfelt, charismatic prose, the room was filled with anticipation.

Lennix read a key line from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns. “I want you to remember, Clark. In all the years to come. In all your most private moments. I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you.”

The quote was taken from Batman himself, after an extensive battle between the two superheroes. It was all but confirmed when a huge Superman logo appeared on the Hall H screen, superimposed with a Batman logo to seal the deal – Superman and Batman will appear in the next Superman movie. It just doesn’t get any better than that.

Godzilla

When you see the three screens expand in Hall H you know something spectacular awaits you. The audience slowly slides to the edge of their seats in anticipation of what awaits them. The screen filled with bomb testing that led to a smoke-filled picture when one word appeared on-screen: Godzilla. Audiences had just seen a glimpse of what Director Gareth Edwards hopes to accomplish with next summer’s Godzilla.

The panel was full of the excited, but relieved, cast after finally wrapping the film 2 days prior to their visit to Comic-Con.  Joining Edwards on the stage was his cast: Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, and Bryan Cranston. The cast shared a similar sentiment about the filming of Godzilla – a film that appears to be so massive, actually felt intimate, free, creative and human.

As Legendary carefully pulls together the film’s artwork and images that are sure to garner excitement, we’d like to share a scene from the set of Godzilla that has us eager to see more.

Outside of Hall H fans got to experience an up-close and personal Godzilla Encounter. Read more as the LA Times Hero Complex tells you about their experience.

Godzilla opens in IMAX® 3D theatres on May 16, 2014.

Gravity

“Part of the concept from the get-go was this idea that it should feel like an IMAX documentary or a Discovery Channel documentary that goes wrong,” says Gravity director Alfonso Cuarón about the sci-fi thriller. He spoke during the press conference at Comic-Con about his goals of creating the most realistic world possible.

Sandra Bullock sat alongside Cuarón and discussed some of the challenges of filming and creating this life-like universe. Bullock consulted with actual astronauts to develop her character saying that she was able to “call up to space and ask some questions”.

Gravity opens in IMAX® 3D theatres on Oct. 14.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

The cast of the highly anticipated, second installment of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire came to Hall H for the very first time. They showcased never-before-seen footage to excited fans and answered questions on the upcoming epic film that arrives in IMAX theatres Nov. 22. MTV delivers a play-by-play of the Hunger Games: Catching Fire panel in Hall H.

SDCC was a blast this year. We look forward to next year and seeing some of the films highlighted at Comic-Con come to life in IMAX theatres.
