Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 Sets Midnight Box Office Record

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 took in $43.5 million at the midnight box office in North America — the biggest midnight opening of all time. Potter earned almost 50% more than previous midnight champion, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which earned $30 million from midnight shows when it was released in June 2010. The Harry Potter franchise is estimated to be the most profitable film franchise ever. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, the eighth and final film has already grossed more than $100 million at the worldwide box office. “Cowboys and Aliens” coming to IMAX in international territories

IMAX Corporation, DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures International announced that Jon Favreau’s upcoming sci-fi adventure “Cowboys & Aliens” will open in select international digital IMAX theaters day-and-date with each territory’s release date, beginning in August. “We are delighted to be able to offer international audiences the opportunity to experience the amazing visuals and spectacle of Cowboys and Aliens in IMAX,” said Andrew Cripps, President of Paramount Pictures International. “This release marks the continuation of the fantastic relationship we have with IMAX and we are thrilled that fans will have the ability to experience it this way.”...
