Leading the way was the UK on a staggering $32.4m (£20.1m) debut from 1,818 screens that left a trail of records in its wake. This was the biggest launch of the year-to-date and the second biggest Friday-to-Sunday debut in history behind the Harry Potter finale. It also set a new Saturday attendance record and beat the opening weekends of Casino Royal and Quantum Of Solace by 76% and 30%, respectively.
007 plundered $9.1m from 834 screens in France (39% ahead of the three-day Casino Royale debut and more than the entire five-day launch, but 15% less than Quantum); $8.6m from 1,145 in Russia (171% bigger than the opening weekend of Casino Royale and 58% ahead of Quantum); $6.1m from 651 in South Korea for 49% market share (more than three times bigger than the Casino Royale opening an 58% bigger than the three-day launch of Quantum) and $3.2m from 581 in the biggest launch of the franchise in Brazil (130% bigger than Casino Royale and 37% ahead of Quantum).
Top of the pile from the MGM launches was Norway on $2.7m from 205 (ahead of Casino Royale by 52% and Quantum by 15%), Sweden on $2.7m from 108 for the biggest launch of 2012 so far (ahead of Casino Royale by 27% although 4% less than Quantum) and Denmark on $2.6m from 179 for the biggest non-3D launch in history. Records also fell in Finland where $1.5m from 140 set the biggest launch in history excluding previews.
Skyfall grossed $3.5m on IMAX screens from 79 locations in 15 territories for a formidable $45,000 per-screen average. This was the best international non-summer/non-holiday opening in the company’s history. IMAX’s global box office this weekend from Skyfall, Tai Chi Hero in China, Cloud Atlas and Paranormal Activity 4 – the last two in North American only – amounts to $6m.

One location will be in Milton Keynes, UK.
IMAX is to open five theares in Europe with the help of three exhibition partners.
Odeon and UCI Cinemas Group will build one location north of London in Milton Keynes and Pathé Theatres will open three IMAX theatres in the Netherlands, including two in The Hague and Tilburg and one in an undetermined location.

This October marks the fourth year in a row that Paramount Pictures has terrorized audiences with a new entry in their wildly successful found footage franchise Paranormal Activity. Already the series that focuses on the demonic exploits that plague one doomed family has earned more than $575 million worldwide. To be sure their latest installment, Paranormal Activity 4, scores with audiences, Paramount brought back Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (of Catfish fame/infamy), the cheered co-helmers of the surprisingly sharp prequel Paranormal Activity 3, to continue to grow the world of these freaky films. But to give their box office an additional boost, the studio is also offering an IMAX release of killer Katie's latest adventure.
Variety reports that Paranormal Activity 4 is being digitally re-mastered with a reworked sound and image quality suitable to the immensity of IMAX presentation. While the film will open nationwide October 19th, kicking off with sure to be spirited midnight screenings, its IMAX version will launch at about 300 locations as early as October 18th at 9PM. So keep all this in mind while deciding on which Paranormal Activity 4 ticket you want to buy.

Horror film to be remastered for simultaneous bow
Moviegoers can get scared IMAX-style as the large-format exhibitor is digitally remastering Paramount's "Paranormal Activity 4" with plans to release the film starting Thursday, Oct. 18, at 9 p.m. -- concurrent with the film's nationwide bow.
Pic marks the second IMAX treatment for the scarer franchise after "Paranormal Activity 2." The four-quel will launch at roughly 300 digital IMAX domestic locations.

The U.S. exhibitor has ordered another 10 screens to bring its commitment to 87 screens in all.
TORONTO - Regal Entertainment has ordered another 10 IMAX theaters to bring an existing joint revenue sharing agreement to 87 screens in all.
“IMAX is a key component in our strategy to offer premium moviegoing experiences to our customers
