SECTOR 7 in IMAX® 3D Posts Strong Opening

SEOUL, Korea – August 10, 2011 – IMAX Corporation (NYSE:IMAX; TSX:IMX) and CJ Entertainment, a leading Korean film production and distribution company, today announced that the IMAX release of the underwater action thriller Sector 7 contributed approximately $511,000 to the gross box office of the film’s overall opening weekend box office of $11.6 million and was the top-grossing movie of the weekend in Korea. Sector 7 generated approximately $51,000 per screen on 10 IMAX screens, for a per screen average that was roughly 3.6 times that of other screens. Disney's 'John Carter' to Debut in IMAX 3D

Disney's "John Carter" will be released in IMAX 3D on March 9, 2012, along with its worldwide release, the studio announced Monday. The movie is based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' novel, and is about a former military captain who finds himself transported to Mars "where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions among the inhabitants of the planet," according to the studio. Final Destination 5 will be rolled out on 223 domestic and international 3D digital screens, day-and-date with the film's worldwide release on Aug. 12, Imax reported Thursday.The tentpole is the latest addition to Imax’s 2011 film slate, which underwhelmed in the first half of the year, but has picked up after Transformers 2 performed and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2, also from Warner Bros., broke opening weekend box office records.
