Potter of Gold: 'Deathly Hallows, Part 2' Passes $1B

Continuing its record-breaking run, Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” has surpassed $1 billion at the worldwide box office, becoming the first in the series—and just the ninth film in cinema history—to reach that benchmark. The announcement was made today by Warner Bros. Pictures President of Domestic Distribution, Dan Fellman, and President of International Distribution, Veronika Kwan-Rubinek. Adding to the records already achieved, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” tied the record for the fastest climb to $1 billion. Sony's 'Amazing Spider-Man' Gets the IMAX Treatment

IMAX and Sony are releasing "The Amazing Spider-Man" in IMAX 3D, the companies announced on Tuesday. The film's really big screen debut will coincide with the superhero reboot's worldwide release on July 3, 2012.The last two installments of the franchise were also released in IMAX, but this is the first film in the series to get the 3D treatment. Transformers: Dark of the Moon Sets IMAX Record in China

This weekend, Transformers: Dark of the Moon: An IMAX 3D Experience set a record for the launch of a U.S. movie in China, generating $3.7 million of box office on 31 screens, for a per screen average of $120,000. This beats the prior per screen average record set by Avatar of $97,400. To date, the film has generated $45.5 million in IMAX box office worldwide, surpassing the $44 million of box office generated by Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: The IMAX Experience, with theatres in Japan still to open.
