Exciting news for Marvel and IMAX fans has just arrived! Marvel’s Iron Man 3 soars into IMAX® 3D Theatres internationally starting April 25. The film will later open United States and Canada on May 3.
Marvel and IMAX are a perfect one-two punch and the Iron Man franchise has become a global phenomenon that fans everywhere are eager to see. We look forward to the thrill and excitement of Tony Stark’s latest adventures arriving in IMAX theatres.

In 2011, the IMAX® 12:01 program was born. Fans were able to receive their very first 12:01 print at the midnight showing of Real Steel.
What you may not know is that IMAX worked with SA Studios to launch the first print in this exclusive IMAX program. SA Studios’ Patrick Martinez was the creative force behind the artwork that would kick-off the program. Keep reading to find out how you can win ALL the IMAX 12:01 prints from 2012!

Visual effects were prevalent in many of the top films featured in IMAX this year. Each year the Academy chooses the best of the best to receive an Oscar® for Best Visual Effects. We are excited to announce that four of the five nominees have been featured in IMAX® theatres. The final list of nominees includes Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Marvel’s The Avengers from Joss Whedon, Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, Ang Lee’s Life of Pi and Rupert Sanders’ Snow White and the Huntsman, which is the only title not shown in IMAX theatres. These films competed with some of 2012’s top films to nab the nomination, and we’re taking a moment to highlight this year’s nominees. Below is a snapshot of the IMAX releases.
