Viral times: 'Contagion' makes pandemic feel real

Por David Germain en la septiembre 06, 2011

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Hollywood disaster movie typically comes with quakes, asteroids, tornadoes or aliens ripping the planet to shreds and manly heroes tossing around wisecracks as they carry out impossible deeds to save the world. Yet Steven Soderbergh figured the more authentic a potential apocalypse feels, the scarier it becomes. Opening Friday at U.S. theaters, Soderbergh's "Contagion" lays out a terrifying scenario — the swift spread of a deadly new virus around the globe — with a mix of personal drama and merciless realism that makes it both riveting and foreboding. At Venice, is 'Contagion' following 'The Town's' awards playbook?

Por Nicole Sperling en la septiembre 01, 2011

Por Rob Boffard en la agosto 23, 2011

"I could teach you how to do this in an hour," says Jim Warburton. We're in the projection room of the Odeon IMAX 3D cinema in Greenwich. Warburton is standing next to two massive, air-cooled projectors, currently beaming the new Harry Potter film onto the massive screen.Warburton is big, burly man, a former milkman and supermarket cashier who has worked as a projectionist for the past four years. He's demonstrating how to use a touchscreen PC to cue up ads, trailers and the film itself. It looks deceptively simple - all he has to do is line everything up, press play and leave the computer to do its work. "This is by far the best job I've ever had. I get... Lea más
