IMAX Corporation Reports First Quarter 2012 Financial Results

IMAX Corporation today reported first quarter 2012 revenues of $55.6 million, adjusted EBITDA as calculated in accordance with the Company's Credit Facility of $16.4 million, adjusted net income of $4.0 million, or $0.06 per diluted share, and reported net income of $2.6 million, or $0.04 per diluted share. In the first quarter of 2012, the Company incurred a charge of $0.7 million to enable certain theatres to play movies, such as The Dark Knight Rises, in either digital or analog format. MAX Corporation (NYSE: IMAX; TSX: IMX) and Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF) today announced that the limited release of The Hunger Games: The IMAX Experience grossed $10.6 million in IMAX® theatres worldwide during its three-day opening weekend beginning March 23. Domestically, the film grossed $152.5 million, of which $10.2 million was generated in 268 IMAX theatres for a per-screen average of $38,000.
