Lemurs are already leaping into the hearts and minds of Stonybrook University students, alumni and friends after viewing the upcoming Madagascar: Island of Lemurs IMAX® documentary at Loews AMC Lincoln Square IMAX theatre in New York.

Bigger surprises awaited excited guests who had the opportunity to take photos with a life-size lemur and speak to lemur-expert Dr. Patricia Wright, who inspired producer Drew Fellman (Born to Be Wild) to create the film. Dr. Wright, Drew Fellman and IMAX CEO Rich Gelfond participated in a brief Q&A after presenting the film where audiences raved with excitement after learning more about the cute, furry lemurs.

Before we discuss the Q&A, let's take a look at the fun trailer for Madagascar: Island of Lemurs.

“It’s rare that you meet someone whose career that is so integral to the survival of, not just any animal, but it’s a really important primate, especially ones that are so beautiful, so charismatic and also so unknown,” producer Drew Fellman replies when asked what convinced him to produce the film.

But there was a pressing question from one audience member that left us all wondering about the possibilities, "Is there a such thing as a Lemur-cam yet?" Dr. Wright's jokingly responded, "Not yet, but that's our next project." IMAX CEO continued, "...a traditional IMAX camera weighs about 300 pounds, so it probably wouldn't be easy to put it on a lemur."

After the event was over, we had a room full of lemur-lovers who were eager to pose with the lemur. Check out some fun photos below:
