FRIDAY FEATURE: A Look Back at Star Wars and Its Amazing Legacy in IMAX
12月 16, 2016

Happy Friday, IMAX fans, and welcome back to another edition of Friday Feature. Today marks the culmination of many months of waiting for countless people around the globe as Lucasfilm’s all-new epic adventure — Rogue One: A Star Wars Story — arrives in IMAX theatres worldwide.

In celebration of the release, we’re looking back at the Star Wars franchise and its amazing legacy in IMAX.

For many fans, going to see a Star Wars film in IMAX has become a new tradition and the best way to experience the saga.

One notorious group, for instance, has lined up at the TCL Chinese Theatre IMAX in Hollywood for every Star Wars film, including this weekend with Rogue One. Numbers have ranged on average from 150 to 200 people. Last year, the TCL even played host to a wedding on opening day of Star Wars: The Force Awakens — the highest-grossing film in IMAX of all time.

In 2002, Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones marked the first time a Star Wars film was offered in IMAX.

At the time, Jim Ward, VP of marketing for Lucasfilm commented on the release saying, “For the first time fans of Star Wars will be able to see all their favorite characters, environments, vehicles and droids in a setting that is up to eight stories high and over a hundred feet wide.”

Now with Rogue One, IMAX fans have the opportunity to return to the Star Wars universe and experience it in the best possible format now playing in IMAX theatres worldwide.

Go Rogue in IMAX! See you there!
