At Venice, is 'Contagion' following 'The Town's' awards playbook?

When Warner Bros. Pictures premieres Steven Soderbergh's globe-trotting virus drama "Contagion" Sunday at the Venice Film Festival, it will be launching a campaign for a movie that shares many attributes with the studio's hit from fall 2010: Ben Affleck's "The Town," which also made its debut at the starry European fest. Despite very different subject matters, "The Town" (starring Affleck and Jeremy Renner) and "Contagion" are both accessible dramas with strong ensemble casts. IMAX on Thursday signed a deal with Jiangsu Eudemonia Blue Ocean Cinema Development Co. to double the Chinese exhibitor's stable of digital theatres to eight. IMAX and Blue inked a deal for another four theaters, which follows an earlier February 2011 deal that saw the Chinese exhibitor launch a super-sized IMAX theater in Suzhou Xinsu Tiandi International's Cineplex at Xinsu Plaza and in another three Blue Ocean-branded multiplexes in Kunming, Taizhou and in Xuzhou, in Jiangsu province. 더 알아보기

‘Rescue 3D’ Makes Spectacular Use of IMAX

CHICAGO – With the tenth anniversary of September 11th on the horizon, “Rescue 3D” is a nice reminder of the first responders who step into the disasters, and the film itself is an incredible use of the 3D technology, best utilized on the IMAX screen.
