Beginning of the Great Revival: The IMAX Experience
Beginning of the Great Revival will be released under the name Founding of the Party in China.
In the years leading up to WWI, Sun Yat-sen defeated Yuan Shikai who had initiated a secret treaty with Japan. In a period marked by political and military fragmentation, motivated individuals, such as Mao Zedong, Li Dazhao, and Zhou Renlail, shared the goals of safeguarding and unifying China, and eventually came together under a united purpose.
After WWI, desiring to restrain the political agenda and preclude the growth of Soviet power, the US and Britain gave Qingdao and Jiaozhou Bay to Japan, thus infringing on the territorial and political sovereignty of China. By the summer of 1919, China’s reform-minded youth looked towards Lenin’s political revolution in Russia as the lantern to guide their hopes for China. Disillusioned with Western dominance, their fervor led to the May Fourth Movement. Then in March of 1920, Wei Jing Si Ji arrived in China to extend Communism to the Far East and soon founded the People’s Party on the principles of representing the proletariat. On July 22, 1921, thirteen representatives from all parts of China arrived at Shanghai’s women’s dormitory to sing the Chinese National Anthem.
Beginning of the Great Revival: The IMAX Experience will be released in select IMAX theatres in China in June, 2011.
