Island Child

Release Date: January 1, 1987. Rated: G. Runtime: 30 min.
Island Child (formerly titled Indonesian Child) is the story of the marvelous cultural diversity of Indonesia as seen through the eyes of its children. Beginning with an infant of the Bajao group, nomadic water people who live their entire lives aboard small boats, each scene introduces a new and exotic culture and a slightly older child. From a five-year-old river boy deep in the rain forest of Borneo to a 20-year-old oceanographer who explores the undersea richness of the unique Java and Banda Seas while planning his own future family, each of the seven stories reveals a pivotal moment in the process of growing up.
