CJ CGV to Open 15 New IMAX® Theatres in China

With more than 726 screens in 91 locations nationwide, top-notch exhibitor CJ CGV is now planning to open 15 new IMAX® theatres throughout the People’s Republic of China. This adds an additional 15 IMAX® theatres to their existing agreement bringing the total to 65 IMAX® theatres.

IMAX is committed to supporting the growth of China’s film and exhibition industry and bringing the best in Chinese and Hollywood blockbusters to more audiences across the country. This agreement with CJ CGV will allow more Chinese moviegoers to be experience the most anticipated movies in IMAX.

Exploring is a huge part of our foundation, and now, we’re passing along the opportunity for up-and-coming filmmakers to be recognized for their ability to take audiences to places they’ve only dreamed of going.

IMAX, Newsweek & The Daily Beast have partnered to present aspiring filmmakers with The IMAX® Award - to recognize those with a desire to compel audiences through exploration. By submitting a one-to-two minute video clip, contestants can enter for a chance to win The IMAX® Award.
