IMAX is J.J. Abrams' 'favorite headache' in 'Star Trek'

Director filmed 30 minutes of the new sequel using high-resolution cameras. J.J. Abrams has a love/hate relationship with IMAX. The director's Star Trek Into Darkness sequel releases early on Wednesday night with special IMAX screenings all over the country, and Abrams filmed 30 minutes of footage in it utilizing the high-resolution cameras to enhance the scope and immerse the audience in some of the movie's most action-packed scenes. 阅读全文
MTV UK: Star Trek Into Darkness Opening Earlier In IMAX 3D

Star Trek Into Darkness is set to open on 3D IMAX screen two days before it goes on general release, it has been confirmed. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Pictures has closed a deal with the oversize screen company to start showing the eagerly awaited sci-fi sequel from 15 May. IMAX Expands in Russia With New Partner Kronverk Cinema

TORONTO – Imax is expanding in Russia as it gets three more theaters into new construction projects across the market.
Toronto-based Imax on Monday said it sold one giant-screen theater to new partner Kronverk Cinema, and sold one more screen each to existing partners Kinomax and Formula Kino.
The latest Russian deals speed up Imax’s push into emerging territories as it diversifies away from a maturing North American market.

The giant screen exhibitor will screen the latest installment of the franchise internationally on April 25. TORONTO – Marvel Entertainment’s Iron Man 3 is to be super-sized for release on Imax screens internationally, from April 25. The latest installment of the Tony Stark/Iron Man Marvel franchise will also hit domestic theaters on May 3, simultaneous with the Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures roll-out. 阅读全文
