The results for the 91st Academy Awards are in!
Congratulations to Paul Lamber, Ian Hunter, Tristan Myles, J.D. Schwalm and the First Man movie team for winning the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects!
Filmmaker Damien Chazelle and his team used IMAX’s high-resolution cameras to capture the spectacular lunar sequences of the Apollo 11 mission. IMAX audiences saw up to 26% more picture on screen during the landing and got a greater scope with the clearest image to be immersed with the film.
In addition to First Man, other spectacular films which received IMAX runs made the Oscar shortlist this year:
These films include 20th Century Fox's Bohemian Rhapsody (Best Actor: Rami Malek, Best Sound Mixing, Best Film Editing, Best sound Editing), Disney's Black Panther (Best Original Music Score, Best Costume Design, and Best Production Design), Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (Best Animated Feature), National Geographic's Free Solo (Visual Effects), and Warner Bros.'s A Star is Born (Original Song).
