Beginning with an infant of the Bajao group, nomadic water people who live their entire lives aboard small boats, each scene introduces a new and exotic culture and a slightly older child. From a five-year-old river boy deep in the rain forest of Borneo to a 20-year-old oceanographer who explores the undersea richness of the unique Java and Banda Seas while planning his own future family, each of the seven stories reveals a pivotal moment in the process of growing up.
