FRIDAY FEATURE: 6 Fun Facts About Resident Evil: The Final Chapter
==================================================================

Happy Friday and welcome back to Friday Feature!

To help celebrate the IMAX release of Sony’s _Resident Evil: The Final Chapter_, the sixth — and final —installment in the _Resident Evil_ franchise, we thought it would be interesting to spotlight six fun facts about the film and franchise as a whole.

3 … 2 …

**1.** **Vidgame cash-cow:** The _Resident Evil_ franchise, which launched into theatres in 2002 with the eponymous first installment, has grossed more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office, making it the most successful video game franchise ever.

**2.** **Japanese roots:** Based on the Capcom property, the _Resident Evil_ video game series has its roots in Japan, where it’s called _Biohazard_. The game was re-named due to pre-existing properties of the same name Stateside.

**3.** **Three’s company:** Good company, that is. _Resident Evil: The Final Chapter_ marks the third film from the franchise to be released in IMAX after _Resident Evil: Afterlife_ in 2010 and _Resident Evil: Retribution_ (2012).

**4.** **Evil in 3D:** _The Final Chapter_ marks only the third installment in the franchise to be released in 3D — _Afterlife_ actually is the first live-action film based on a video game series ever to be released in 3D. Its marketing tagline was “Experience a new dimension of evil.”

**5.** **This Rose has thorns:** Rising star Ruby Rose marks her _Resident Evil_ debut in _The Final Chapter_, in which she plays a total bad-ass as one of the few surviving humans in Raccoon City. _Resident Evil: The Final Chapter_ actually marks the second IMAX film for Rose in as many weeks following last week’s _xXx: Return of Xander Cage_. Go Ruby!

**6.** **Resident die-hard:** While _The Final Chapter_ marks the first _Resident Evil_ outing for Ruby Rose, star Milla Jovovich has appeared in every single installment, making her the only actor in the franchise to have done so. Talk about needing a vacation!

There you have it. Go see _Resident Evil: The Final Chapter_ — starting today in IMAX® 3D — and impress your friends with all your newfound _Resident Evil_ know-how!
