Pictures today announced that _The Dark Knight Rises,_ the highly anticipated third film of the critically acclaimed trilogy, will be released in the immersive IMAX format in 78 IMAX**®** theatres across China on Monday, August 27. While making the 2008 blockbuster _The Dark Knight_, Christopher Nolan was the first filmmaker to use IMAX® cameras in a major motion picture release. Nolan employed the extremely high-resolution cameras even more extensively on _The Dark Knight Rises_: The IMAX Experience® —including the film's prologue — incorporating a record of more than an hour of footage filmed with IMAX cameras_._ These specific sequences, which will expand to fill the entire screen exclusively in IMAX, will deliver unprecedented crispness and clarity and a truly immersive experience for moviegoers. Of the 563 IMAX theatres worldwide presenting _The Dark Knight Rises_, 107 will present the film in IMAX 70-millimeter film. Christopher Nolan stated, “Having shot almost half the picture with large-format IMAX film cameras, it is very important to me that we show _The Dark Knight Rises_ in the IMAX film format wherever possible. Audiences everywhere should be assured that every presentation of the film will be of the highest standard—having benefited from the clarity and depth IMAX cameras offer. However, these 107 screens will showcase the original IMAX film photography in its optimum form, and I hope anyone who has an opportunity to experience the film in these theatres will seek it out.” Sequences shot in 35mm have been digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drives Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cap and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane. Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Legendary Pictures, a Syncopy Production, a Film by Christopher Nolan, “The Dark Knight Rises.”  The film stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Morgan Freeman. Christopher Nolan directed the film from a screenplay by Jonathan Nolan and Christopher Nolan, story by Christopher Nolan & David S.
