98% of Transformers: The Last Knight was shot using IMAX® cameras. Michael Bay is the first filmmaker to use two of the ALEXA IMAX cameras in a 3D rig to take IMAX 3D to the next level – putting moviegoers smack in the middle of the action with the Autobots as never before. In IMAX® theatres, these sequences will expand to fill more of the screen and provide moviegoers 26% more of the image with even greater scope, breathtaking image quality and earth-shattering 3D for a truly immersive experience.
The Last Knight shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise, and redefines what it means to be a hero. Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock).
There comes a moment in everyone’s life when we are called upon to make a difference. InTransformers: The Last Knight, the hunted will become heroes. Heroes will become villains. Only one world will survive: theirs, or ours.
Transformers: The Last Knightis currently playing in IMAX®
theaters around the globe.
This is the fifth installment of the
Transformersfranchise, but the first to have been filmed
almost entirely - 98% - with IMAX® 3D cameras. If you’re not a
devoted fanatic, this post could contain some minor spoilers; but
if you still haven’t seen all five films, what are you waiting for?
Below are five reasons fans love the
Transformersseries.
The First Introduction to Optimus Prime’s
Transformation
After obsessing over the beloved Hasbro toys for years, what
could be better than watching Optimus Prime unfold for the first
time on the big screen. Check out Sam’s and Mikaela’s shocked
reactions in the clip below:
The Transformers’ Backstories That You Wish Actually
Existed In Your History Textbooks
History, as told in
Transformers: Age of Extinction, reveals the hidden story
that dinosaurs weren’t wiped out by asteroid impact, but rather a
Transformers invasion. In
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, we find out that the
Great Pyramid of Giza was not just built by the Egyptians, but
built right on top of the Transformers’ Sun Harvester. While you
may think the 1969 mission to the dark side of the moon was purely
for the sake of the space race, it was really a cover for the
Autobots to explore the Ark as chronicled in
Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Lastly, of course, there
was a Cybertronian Knight enlisted by King Arthur in his battles
during the first century, according to
Transformers: The Last Knight.
Bumblebee, Always
Bumblebee has been a fan-favorite since his start as a mute
Chevy Camaro. In
Transformers, he clumsily destroys Sam’s backyard -
smashing the bird fountain, stomping on the flowerbed, and even
threatening Mojo the Chihuahua with death. His response was simply:
“Oops, my bad.” In
Transformers: Age of Extinction, Bumblebee gets offended
when he’s told Stinger is inspired by him, “but better in every
way,” and doesn’t hesitate to fight back. In
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, when Sam tells
Bumblebee that he’s going to college, Bumblebee dances with delight
to “I’m So Excited.” That is, until he finds out he’s not joining
Sam, and more closely resembles a sad puppy, as can be seen
below:
So. Many. Explosions.
We are all familiar with the style of Michael Bay’s directing:
an abundance of action-packed and explosion-intensive battle
scenes. Expect that on overdrive as IMAX cameras capture even more
crisp visuals and as IMAX sound delivers the all-consuming effects
in
Transformers: The Last Knight. Every time the plot
thickens between the Autobots and Decepticons, you know to
sit back, grab some popcorn and anticipate an incredibly explosive
fight.
Optimus Prime’s motivational speeches
Every fan knows that a Transformers movie isn’t complete until
Optimus Prime closes out with a motivational speech over a Linkin
Park (or Imagine Dragons) track. There’s more than meets the eye
when it comes to Optimus Prime. He’s not just a regular
robot-fighting, crime-stopping shapeshifter, he’s also quite the
poet. His best speech is undoubtedly from the original
Transformers.
“With the Allspark gone, we cannot return life to our planet.
But fate has yielded its reward: a new world to call home. We live
among its people now, hiding in plain sight, but watching over them
in secret, waiting...protecting. I have witnessed their capacity
for courage, and though we are worlds apart, like us, there's more
to them than meets the eye. I am Optimus Prime, and I send this
message to any surviving Autobots taking refuge among the stars: We
are here. We are waiting.”
