Welcome back to Friday Feature, IMAX fans!
In support of the launch of Warner Bros.’ highly anticipated summer tentpole, Suicide Squad, which opens today in IMAX® theatres worldwide, I’d like to highlight an awesome recent event that took place at our Playa Vista office just this week.
For starters, a select group of 70-plus social media influencers were invited to experience the film in IMAX® 3D and were encouraged to post about their time using #IMAXSkwad. And the results were great!
But aside from the movie itself, attendees partook in a couple surprise activations, including a giant-sized cereal bowl filled with Suicide Squad and IMAX-themed foam pieces. It was enough to bring out the kid in everyone!
(The bowl made the rounds: Starting in Universal City, Calif., at Universal Citywalk IMAX, it traveled to Chicago, where it stayed for several days at the NBC Tower in time for Lollapalooza. The bowl made its way back to L.A. and will finish its tour at TCL Chinese IMAX.)
Playing off the irreverent, playful feel of the film, guests of the Playa Vista screening were also treated (literally!) to some cool (LITERALLY!) treats from Cool Haus called “skwadwiches.” The different flavors were:
· Harley Quinn’s Nightmare
· Captain Boomerang’s Crunch
· Deadshot of Whiskey
· Color Outside the Lines (a create-your-own “skwadwich”)
For those of you here in L.A., come by the TCL Chinese IMAX location in Hollywood—starting today through Sunday—to get your own “skwadwich” from 2-4 p.m.
While you’re there, take a selfie in the cereal bowl and post it to social media #IMAXSkwad.
