Welcome back to Friday Feature, IMAX fans.
For this week’s post, we’re spotlighting members of our IMAX Playa Vista family who, on Saturday, Oct. 22, participated for the first time in an IMAX-sponsored Habitat for Humanity build.
Twenty IMAX team members, along with Habitat for Humanity staff and Habitat homeowners volunteered on site near South LA. The build, which Delta sponsored for its entirety lasting approximately 6-8 weeks, was a mixture of exterior and interior work.
Those who participated in the event said it was fun and rewarding, as well as highly educational.
On site, volunteers learned skills ranging from how to install flooring to spackling. The house will be fully handicapped-accessible, as well as energy efficient.
While Habitat LA marks the first IMAX-sponsored Habitat build, several IMAX employees volunteered in June at Habitat Hollywood, as well as the organization’s “Power Women Power Tools” event.
These events fall under the larger umbrella of IMAX’s “Big Picture” initiative—a corporate responsibility program that is meant to educate, entertain and inspire global movie audiences on a host of environmental, societal and economic issues facing our society today.
It’s a great way to give back in a fun, safe environment. Go team!
