Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1 and 2 will take the plunge and use the new Imax/Arri 2D digital camera to capture the entire two-part installment of the global franchise.

The move, by directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, marks the first time a Hollywood feature film will be shot only using Imax cameras and its exclusive aspect ratio. The Imax/Arri 2D digital camera, which stops short of a full Imax 3D camera rig, is a customized large format version of Arri's 6K Alexa 65 camera.

The Russo brothers (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) will capture the two-part installment on the Alexa 65, and Imax will then digitally process Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War – Parts 1 and 2 for its giant screens.
