MTV UK: Star Trek Into Darkness Opening Earlier In IMAX 3D

Star Trek Into Darkness is set to open on 3D IMAX screen two days before it goes on general release, it has been confirmed.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Pictures has closed a deal with the oversize screen company to start showing the eagerly awaited sci-fi sequel from 15 May.

Greg Foster, IMAX Entertainment's chairman and president, said: "As we saw with the reaction to the first nine minutes of the film, which debuted in our theatres in December, fans are clearly excited by the opportunity to see this epic film come to life in IMAX."

In other Star Trek news, the new movie's baddie Benedict Cumberbatch has said that he doesn't think he'll end up typecast as a typical English-accented villain after the movie.
