Without further ado, let’s get on to the list:
1.
Sophomore Sailing in IMAX:While
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Talesmarks the
fifth overall installment in the worldwide blockbuster franchise,
the film actually is only the second Pirates outing to receive an
IMAX release after 2011’s
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
2.
Bigger Picture:Continuing a recent trend of films
featuring IMAX DNA — with either expanded aspect ratios, 3D frame
breaks and/or the use of IMAX cameras, all exclusive to IMAX —
Dead Men Tell No Tales, in its entirety, is specially
formatted exclusively for IMAX® theatres, meaning fans will
actually see up to 26% more image in IMAX than standard theatres.
Fun fact:Only in IMAX will you get to see ALL of
Captain Jack Sparrow’s ego!
3.
O Captain, My Captain:Speaking of the infamous
captain and the iconic actor who originated the role, Johnny Depp,
Dead Men Tell No Talesmarks the ninth film featuring the
actor to receive an IMAX release, including the aforementioned
Stranger Tides, as well as
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,
Transcendence,
The Lone Ranger,
Dark Shadows, both
Alice in Wonderlandlive-action films, and
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
4.
Magical Streaming:Earlier this month, Disney
hosted a live-stream Q & A with the cast and filmmakers at
Disneyland Paris where, incidentally, IMAX has a theatre on site.
Fun fact:IMAX also has a theatre in Downtown
Disney at Disneyland Resort and Parks. Check out the live stream
below.
5.
PiratesFirst-Timers, Nay IMAX:While stars Brenton
Thwaites and Kaya Scodelario are newcomers to the
Piratesfranchise, both have appeared previously in an IMAX
release; the former starred in
Gods of Egyptand
Maleficent, while Scodelario has a prominent role in the
Maze Runnerfilm series.
