Happy summer (officially), IMAX fans! Things are really heating up!
Just yesterday, IMAX announcedit has extended its long-standing partnership with Paramount Pictures by signing a five-picture agreement with studio; the films listed in the pact include none other than Michael Bay’s fifth installment in the global blockbuster franchise— Transformers: The Last Knight—set for release during summer 2017.
Transformers: The Last Knightjoins an incredible legacy of Transformersfilms in IMAX, including the last installment, Transformers: Age of Extinction, which featured select footage filmed with IMAX cameras.
In addition to The Last Knight, the new pact includes fellow 2017 titles, Ghost in the Shelland God Particle, along with Ben-Hurand Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, both of which are slated for release this year.

In the announcement, Greg Foster, IMAX Senior Exec VP, IMAX Corp. and CEO of IMAX Entertainment, praised IMAX’s close industry relationships saying, “IMAX and Paramount Pictures, along with such esteemed filmmakers as Michael Bay, Tom Cruise and the Bad Robot team, together have achieved incredible global box office success over the years.”
Paramount vice chairman Rob Moore echoed those sentiments: “Paramount is pleased to partner with its friends at IMAX to present an exciting and diverse lineup of films.”
In addition to these five films, IMAX will release Paramount, Skydance and Bad Robot’s upcoming third film in the blockbuster franchise— Star Trek Beyond—slated for release in IMAX theatres worldwide on July 22.
