Jacki Bassani joined the Company in November 2019 as Chief People Officer and Executive Vice President, IMAX Corp. Previously Ms. Bassani served as Managing Director and Head of North America for the Talent & Rewards business at Willis Towers Watson, a global risk management and HR consulting firm where she helped manage and grow the company’s teams, oversaw employee experience, and provided senior-level consulting for the company’s clients.
Pablo Calamera joined the Company in March 2020 as Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President, IMAX Corp. Previously, Mr. Calamera served as CTO of JW Player, the world’s largest network-independent video platform, where he led engineering teams and was responsible for managing market-leading innovations for JW Player’s business globally. Before joining JW Player, Calamera held roles as CTO of Vonage, CTO of ClearChannel where he was responsible for all of iHeartRadio’s technology initiatives, and CTO of Thumbplay, a cloud-based music streaming company that was acquired by ClearChannel in 2011. Prior to Thumbplay, he held senior technology leadership and engineering positions at Apple, where he served as Director of Engineering, as well as Microsoft, WebTV, Danger and AT&T Labs.
Giovanni Dolci joined the Company in October 2012 as Vice President, Theatre Development and was appointed Chief Sales Officer in April 2021. Previous to that, Mr. Dolci held the position of Head of Global Sales since January 2020. Mr. Dolci also held the position of Vice President, Theatre Development and Managing Director, Europe and Africa beginning in January 2017 and became Senior Vice President in March 2018. Prior to joining the Company, he was Director of Business Development and Commercial Operations at Arts Alliance Media. Before his time at Arts Alliance Media, Mr. Dolci worked in film financing focusing on several projects in New Zealand, Italy and the UK. Mr. Dolci also serves on the Board of Directors of IMAX Theatres International Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of IMAX Corporation. Mr. Dolci has a degree in Economics and Management from Bocconi University in Milan and an MSc in Management from Cass Business School in London. He is a former Junior Fellow of the Aspen Institute, Italy.
Brett Harriss joined the Company in April 2020 as Senior Vice President of Investor Relations, IMAX Corp. Previously, Mr. Harriss served as Director of Research for Gabelli’s sell-side research department, while also acting as Portfolio Manager of the Gabelli Global Content & Connectivity Fund, a $100 million AUM technology, media and telecom focused public mutual fund. Mr. Harriss also spent more than a decade covering the media and entertainment industry, including eight years covering IMAX, at GAMCO Investors. He graduated from Columbia University with a B.A. in Economics and received his MBA from Columbia University as well.
Mark Jafar joined the Company in June 2019 as Global Head of Corporate Communications, IMAX Corp. In this role Mr. Jafar oversees all communications and media relations for the Company, working across the company’s business and entertainment divisions. He also supports domestic and global efforts to communicate IMAX’s brand narrative, strategic partnerships, and more. Previously Mr. Jafar served as Vice President, Corporate Communications, at BuzzFeed where he led corporate communications and entertainment publicity for the company’s executives and across its numerous brands, technology and content arms, marketing functions and more. From 2006-2017, he held several communications leadership roles at Viacom including Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs at MTV. Mr. Jafar began his career at Robinson Lerer & Montgomery.
Joseph Sparacio rejoined the company as Interim Chief Financial Officer in 2021 after previously serving the same role for nearly a decade at IMAX. Most recently, he served as Chief Financial Officer of Entertainment One.
Edwin Tan joined IMAX in December 2019 as Chief Executive Officer of IMAX China. Mr. Tan assumes all oversight and executive responsibilities for IMAX China with the mission of driving the company’s record box-office and strong theatre network growth in its second largest market.
Mr. Tan was previously the Chief Executive Officer of the China operations of Messe Muenchen, a leading exhibitions company. Prior to joining Messe Muenchen, Mr. Tan served as President of Wanda Studios Qingdao where he helped develop the model for its movie and content business in its early stages. From 2007 to 2016, Mr. Tan held numerous positions at the Reed Exhibitions Greater China including Chief Operating Officer. Before his time at Reed Exhibitions, he also led the successful global expansion of manufacturer SNP Corporation.
Born in Singapore, Mr. Tan has been based in China since 2009. He received his MBA from The University of Hull and his Bachelor of Economics from Murdoch University.
Darren Throop has been a director of the Company since June 2015. Mr. Throop has been President and CEO of Entertainment One Ltd., a leading international entertainment company that specializes in the acquisition, production and distribution of film and television content, since July 2003. From 1999 to 2003, Mr. Throop was Chief Executive Officer, Records on Wheels Group Partner. Previously, Mr. Throop was the owner of Urban Sound Exchange between 1991 and 1999. Mr. Throop has over 20 years of executive management experience in the entertainment industry. Mr. Throop serves on the Board of Directors of the Entertainment One Ltd. He is a member of the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Mr. Throop is a member of the Company’s Compensation Committee. Mr. Throop’s experience in the growth of an entrepreneurial and international entertainment company which is engaged in film distribution, television and music production, programming, merchandising and licensing further strengthens the Board’s expertise in these areas.
Steve Pamon joined the Board in 2021. He most recently served as the President and Chief Operating Officer of Beyoncé's management and production company, Parkwood Entertainment, where he was the architect of the wildly successful 'On the Run' tour and was awarded both a Grammy Award for "Homecoming" and a Peabody Award for the visual album "Lemonade" as Executive Producer. Prior to Parkwood Entertainment, Steve held executive positions at JPMorgan Chase & Co., the NFL and HBO, and has been widely recognized for his success managing high-performance brands across film, music, event production and more.
Pamon also sits on the board of World Wresting Entertainment ("WWE"), the board of New York Road Runners – a non-profit organization that produces more than 100 sports events each year including the famed New York City Marathon – and is a founding advisory board member for the "Launch with GS" fund, Goldman Sachs' $500 million dollar investment fund that aims to increase access to capital and connections for diverse entrepreneurs.
